IGUANA’S FINEST PART 2

Genre: Folk/Rock/Blues/Acoustic

Part 2 of Iguana’s Finest showcases some fantastic new up and coming talent as well as some very well established musicians on the Manchester music scene. Highly recommended.

The Marivaux – This four piece Alternative/Rock Band boat impressive musicianship, shongwriting as well as great vocal ability from front man Phil McAdam, The best formed after meeting up at music tech collage and recruiting various members and have since become well established on the Manchester music scene. The Marivaux are still young blood on the scene but are building up an impressive fan base and a following of healthy music fans who undoubtedly expect nothing but decent music and invigorating live performances from this up and coming Manchester-full sounding group who have fused the best of a variety of influences such as The Beatles, Oasis, The Smiths, RHCP, Bob Dylan, The La’s, Incubus, and The Doors. Watch this space.

Black Water – An acoustic three piece band with vocal harmonies performing popular covers with a twist.

James Munro – at only twenty-two, singer/songwriter James Munro has both the vocal talent and song writing capabilities of someone way beyond his years. Taking influence from the likes of Bob Dylan, James has perfected his talent through the use of superlative timing, vocal dynamics and sincerity in his approach to lyric writing. His quality performances set the standard for any other folk artists to come out of Manchester as far as we’re concerned.

Festival Highlight

BETH JEANS HOUGHTON

Beth Jeans Houghton has been playing guitar since the age of 16. She’s only 19 now. In the meantime, she’s supported Tunng and Tinariwen, hobnobbed with Vetiver, John Martyn, Bon Iver and Joanna Newsome, and recorded a single, Golden/Nightswimmer with Adem.

An album is, of course, on the way, and is being produced by Ben Hillier, the production mastermind behind Elbow’s Cast Of Thousands, Doves’s Some Cities and Blur’s Think Tank. “Originally, I wasn’t sure how Ben and my music would fit together, but it does and

I can’t wait to get back to his cave,” says Beth. “He looks like Mr. Bean, rides a bike, and helps me pass on love notes to cute guys in café’s.”

“A considerable talent, with a remarkable voice and a rare star quality.” Mojo
